A Brief History of Foosball

Foosball is a compelling indoor game. It ranks up very high with chess and billiards, with regards to the most and popular most played sport in the total planet. But just how did foosball begin? Where did it originate and just who conceived this popular table sport?

In the United States, the first-ever professional foosball tournament took place in 1979, with almost as $250,000 at stake. I knew the event like the World Championships that also marked the debut of the foremost professional foosball league. The German and European leagues held tournaments as early as the 1950s. There is not a body started for the pros during those times.

Today, foosball is a hit not just in probably the West but in the planet’s majority also. Good players are emerging from countries like North Africa, the Middle East, Tahiti, South America, and Australia. Japan and Argentina are inching the way of theirs towards winning the World Cup also.

In the United States alone, there are about 1.9 million players enjoying the game. The evolution of the game from a typical indoor game into an experienced sport with millions in cash prizes at stake has contributed to the rise of its increase in popularity.
